Lourdes Espino Wydler has over 20 years’ experience defending cases from their inception through trial and the appellate process. She is rated AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbel, the highest peer rating standard. Her diverse practice areas include employment law, civil rights and government liability, education law, premises liability, and insurance coverage disputes. Ms. Wydler has obtained multiple reported defense dismissals and summary judgments in Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FLSA, FMLA, 42 U.S.C. §1983, and retaliation claims. She routinely defends police and correctional officers in Fourth Amendment and Eighth Amendment claims. Lourdes Wydler’s clients include elected officials, university presidents and professors in alleged violations of the First Amendment. She has presented oral argument at the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals and District Courts of Appeals in Florida. She handles complex constitutional torts with multi-million dollar exposures and media interest. 

Ms. Wydler has also defended negligent security, wrongful death, motor vehicle accidents, and personal injury claims for Fortune 100 companies, the State of Florida, municipalities, and insureds. She regularly handles breach of contract claims, defamation, and emotional distress actions stemming from a termination or discipline. She advises management and in-house counsel on employment related matters, company policies, and higher education issues. Lourdes Wydler was recognized in Super Lawyers Magazine for consecutive years as a Rising Star in Florida under 40 years of age. She served as an adjunct faculty member at Florida International University lecturing on Administrative Law. She was a featured columnist for an industry magazine for gasoline stations and convenience stores. Ms. Wydler routinely speaks at government liability conferences and has served as an expert for attorneys’ fees.

Lourdes Espino Wydler graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Politics and Government in 1999. She obtained her Masters of Arts degree in Criminology in 2000. She graduated from University of Miami, School of Law with Cum Laude Honors in 2003 where she received the John O’Keefe Scholarship Memorial Award. Lourdes Espino Wydler was recognized in Who’s Who in American Law Schools as President of the U.M. Law School’s Moot Court Board.
